The Career Mentor Program connects Lake Forest College students with alumni and friends of the college who are committed to the professional development of students.
Students receive individualized attention from their mentors and learn about skills and topics such as:
The mentor program is offered to first-year through senior students who complete the program qualifications of participating in a pre-matching meeting and an information session with Career Services. Matches are made in the fall of each year and the official commitment of mentors and mentees ends with each academic year.
The number of times and ways in which students and mentors interact varies depending on the goals of the student and the availability of each party. The success of a career mentor match is dependent upon student initiative and commitment. The program helps students to develop leadership skills in a supportive setting.
The mentor program is an important step for many students who are looking to make informed decision about their future careers. Program success depends upon mentor volunteers who willingly share their expertise with mentees. Mentor applications are welcome from all career fields.
