Mission Statement

Career Services at Lake Forest College helps students and alumni define and realize their career goals through;

  1. Fostering an environment in which individuals make independent and ethical career-related decisions.
  2. Delivering comprehensive and individualized career counseling and resources for students and alumni.
  3. Developing long lasting collaborative relationships with employers, staff, faculty, and alumni volunteers.
  4. Preparing students with the skills to be successful throughout their changing careers.
  5. Educating students and alumni that career exploration is a lifelong process.

Travel Directions to Career Services

From Chicago — Take I-94 (Edens Expressway) north toward Waukegan. When I-94 splits off toward Milwaukee, stay on the Edens, which becomes U.S. Route 41. Exit at Deerpath Road, turn right (east) onto Deerpath and continue through the downtown area of Lake Forest, over the railroad tracks and toward the College.  When you get to Sheridan Road, turn right and go past the main entrance to the College.  Take the third right, which is Maplewood Drive. Drive west through the parking lot and the third building on your left is Buchanan Hall.  Career Services is located in Buchanan Hall, Room 110.  Enter the building through the side entrance (where the ramp is) and we are the first office on your left.

From points North — Take I-94 south from Milwaukee. Just south of the Wisconsin-Illinois line, stay left and follow U.S. Route 41. Exit at Deerpath Road, turn left (east) onto Deerpath, and continue through the downtown area of Lake Forest, over the railroad tracks and toward the College.  When you get to Sheridan Road, turn right and go past the main entrance to the College.  Take the third right, which is Maplewood Drive. From points West & Southwest (including O’Hare Airport) — Take I-294 (Tri-State Tollway), which becomes I-94, north to Illinois 60 (Town Line Road). Exit and turn right (east) on Route 60.  Continue east to Route 43 (Waukegan Road), turn left (north) for 1/2 mile to Deerpath Road. Turn right (east) onto Deerpath and continue through the downtown area of Lake Forest and toward the College.  When you get to Sheridan Road, turn right and go past the main entrance to the College.  Take the third right, which is Maplewood Drive. Arriving by Train
Amtrak’s Chicago Union Station is located at 210 South Canal Street in downtown Chicago. The phone number for Amtrak reservations is 800-872-7245. Upon arrival at Union Station you will need to get to the Ogilvie Transportation Center. This is the station where the METRA commuter train boards. The Ogilvie Transportation Center is located three long blocks north of Union Station at 500 West Madison Street, at the intersection of Madison and Canal Streets.

There are two commuter lines that run to Lake Forest. Be sure to board the Metra Union Pacific North Line. The train runs to and from Chicago 30 times a day. Call the Regional Transportation Hotline at 312-836-7000 for schedule information. A one-way ticket from Chicago to Lake Forest costs approximately $4.
