2007 Senior Etiquette Dinner

Seniors learn from Maureen Costello, from ImageLaunch.com, at the
2007 Senior Etiquette Dinner
Certified Image Professional Maureen Costello presented on proper dining etiquette and dinner interview tips. If you missed the event, here are 10 quick etiquette tips to remember:
1) Avoid ordering messy or difficult to eat foods (i.e., spaghetti, peas, etc).
2) During a dinner interview, do not order alcoholic drinks!
3) Keep your elbows off the table. Hands can be rested on your lap, or you may rest your wrists on the table.
4) Do not stretch for items that are out of reach– ask others to pass. Salt and pepper are always passed as a pair.
5) If you’re wondering which glass or bread plate is yours, remember that your solid foods (bread) will be to the left and liquids (water) will be to your right. Make the letter 'b' with your left hand and the letter 'd' with your right and you'll remember!
6) Turn off your cell phone!!
7) Listen actively to your host and stick with controversy-free conversation. Avoid inappropriate topics.
8) When using silverware, work from the outside in with each course.
9) Once you’ve used a utensil, don’t rest it on the table– place it on your plate or bowl.
10) When in doubt, follow your host! He/she will help to set the tone of the meal.
