Foresters Blank Wisconsin Lutheran to Begin 2008 Season
Four Lake Forest players record first career victory

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Lake Forest College women's tennis team opened 2008 with a 9-0 triumph over visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday (August 30). It was the program's 10th consecutive season-opening victory.

Freshmen Nonie Carson (Littleton, Colo./Littleton) and Sara Bennett (Sioux City, Iowa/Sioux City North) began their careers with an 8-3 win at #1 doubles. Junior Molly Stapleton (St. Louis Park, Minn./Saint Louis Park) and senior Anne Demere (Savannah, Ga./Saint Vincent's Academy) also prevailed 8-3 at #2 and Junior Viri Del Bosque (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) teamed with sophomore Michelle Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) for an 8-0 victory at #3. It was Stroner's first career win.

In singles play Carson knocked off Wisconsin Lutheran's top player 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Allison Hamel (Bend, Ore./Bend) debuted with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at #2 and Stapleton won 6-4, 6-1 at #3. Sophomore Lauren Stroner (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #4 and Bennett posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #5. Sophomore Deepika Ramachandran (Mumbai, India/Mahindra United World College) rounded out the lineup with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6.

The Foresters will be in action again on Tuesday (September 2) at North Central College. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
