Lake Forest Takes on Carthage and Monmouth on Back-to-Back Days
Michael Mackin and Claire Perrott win at least once in both meets

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Forester swimming & diving teams competed on back-to-back days over the weekend (November 7-8). Lake Forest's women are now 3-1 on the year after falling 125-64 at Carthage College Friday night and defeating visiting Monmouth College 106-93 on Saturday. The Forester men, who are now 1-3, were defeated 125-68 by Carthage and 156-54 by Monmouth.

Sophomore Michael Mackin (Berwyn, Ill./Fenwick) and freshman Claire Perrott (Northfield, Minn./Colegio San Isidro de Heredia) posted Lake Forest's only victories at Carthage. Mackin won the 100-backstroke in 56.04 seconds and Perrott's time of 5:36.66 in the 500-freestyle was good for first place as well.

Runner-up finishes were posted by freshman Emily Watts (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) in the 100-freestyle (57.62) and Mackin in the 200-backstroke (2:08.29).

Perrott recorded the team's first win on Saturday. Her 800-meter freestyle time of 10:19.38 was more than 10 seconds faster than the second-place finisher from Monmouth.

Mackin touched the wall first in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:07.63. He later won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:03.36.

Watts and Taylor Wright (Williams, Calif./Williams) gave the home team a sweep in the 50-meter freestyle. Watts won in 29.16 seconds and Wright covered the down-and-back in 25.62.

Watts also prevailed in the 100-meter freestyle (1:04.84), sophomore Lisa Carpenter (Edina, Minn./Edina) finished first in the 400-meter freestyle (4:57.35), and the two were joined by Perrott and sophomore Whitney Hales (New Iberia, La./Episcopal School of Acadinda) on the winning 200-meter freestyle relay team (2:00.89).

Freshman Jade Perkins (Denver, Colo./JK Mullen) out-scored Monmouth's diver with a score of 165.75 off the 1-meter board and then recorded 164.65 points in the first 3-meter diving competition of her life.

Lake Forest will travel to the University of Chicago next Saturday (November 15) where they will compete in a double-dual format against Chicago and Grinnell College. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m.
