Lake Forest College Fills Two Athletic Administrative Positions
Kate Souder and Cheryl Behnke join the staff

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Lake Forest College Athletic Director Jackie Slaats announced on Monday (August 18) that Kate Souder and Cheryl Behnke would be joining the staff in administrative roles. Souder will assume the newly-created position of Coordinator of Athletic Programming and Camps and Conferences and Behnke is the department’s new assistant athletic director. Both individuals will officially begin working at the College on September 8.

Souder comes to Lake Forest after spending the 2007-08 academic year as a championships assistant with the Atlantic 10 Conference. She spent the previous four years as an administrative assistant with the University of Dayton men’s basketball team while earning a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs. The Michigan State University graduate actually began her athletic administrative career as a student secretary for the Spartan men’s basketball team from 2001-03.

Behnke recently earned a master’s degree in sports administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where, in addition to her own coursework, she served as an undergraduate research coordinator for the Graduate Studies Office. Behnke also earned a bachelor’s degree from La Crosse in May of 2007. She has served as an event operations intern for the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and as an assistant clubhouse manager at Deer Run Golf Course in Brillion, Wisconsin, and held numerous administrative positions at her alma mater.

“I’m looking forward to Kate and Cheryl joining our staff next month,” commented Slaats. “Our entire department is going to benefit from their experience, attitude, and work ethic.”
