Musical Theater Camp

The Musical Theater Camp is for singers interested in polishing their stage presence, movement and characterization of musical theater repertoire. Legit and belt vocal technique will be taught as well as how to audition and prepare for college in the musical theater world.

Teachers include:

Kathleen van de Graaff has a diverse and active career in teaching, performing, and publishing music. As a singer, she has given solo performances in 30 states as well as Costa Rica and Asia and has produced and directed many Baroque chamber operas. She is a senior lecturer of voice at Lake Forest College. She has also been very involved in National Assn. of Teachers of Singing (NATS) in Illinois and has been the secretary and treasurer and president of the Chicago NATS chapter and is presently the district governor of Illinois for NATS. She has produced nine CDs for warming-up the voice and has published nine books on singing.

Melissa Foster is the Head of Musical Theatre Vocal Studies e at Northwestern University. When not at Northwestern, Foster has active private studios in Chicago and New York. Her students can be seen in numerous Broadway and National Tour productions. She has also served as the Vocal Consultant for several professional productions in Chicago and New York. When not teaching, Foster is a professional studio vocalist, with recordings on RCA, Sire and Universal Records.
David Hoffman:

Tenor David Hoffman holds a doctoral degree from the University of Michigan. He has performed on stage in a variety of roles throughout the Midwest and Eastern United States and in Germany. He recently joined the Theater Conservatory faculty at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Mr. Hoffman is on the faculty at Lake Forest College and teaches at the Old Town School of Folk Music as is also a consulting teacher for the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago. He currently serves as the president for the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
