Job Description:
- MRC tutors work one-on-one with students on various math topics.
- Provide support service in the areas of: algebra, geometry, trigonometry and possibly some statistics
- Provide math assistance for a broad range of academic disciplines including but not limited to: biology, chemistry, econ, math, physics, psych
- Tutors may also be asked to work regularly with students who speak English as a second language or students with special needs or circumstances.
- Tutors help the Director and Center Assistant with administrative tasks and special projects, as needed.
MRC Tutor Qualifications:
- To be considered for employment as a Math Resource Center tutor, students must have demonstrated strong math abilities confirmed by two (2) teacher recommendations.
- Tutors must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better.
- MRC tutors must possess strong communication skills in order to articulate appropriate suggestions for math improvement. Tutors must be able to work with MRC clients in a manner that is encouraging and which fosters confidence.
- MRC tutors must be trustworthy, reliable, patient, and detail-oriented
- MRC tutors must possess a positive attitude towards colleagues and clients.
- MRC tutors must be able to work independently and to take initiative in fulfilling responsibilities.
- MRC tutors are committed to reflection and growth in their practices; therefore, they take feedback seriously.
