The Music Department produces many events over the course of the year, from dynamic choral and orchestral programs to recitals featuring student songwriters and composers writing in the electronic music idiom. Concerts are held on and off campus, and are generally free and open to the public.

This month, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Jazz Ensemble Mitch Paliga will continue his tour as a member of Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, which raises money for several veterans’ organizations, including the USO, America Supports You, and Disabled American Veterans. -
Music professor Don Meyer wrote the music in this short promotional video for Billy Dec’s charity event February 3 benefiting the Chicago Food Depository.

The Lake Forest College Chamber Orchestra will present a winter concert in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 19th. Emily Hilgenberg (Class of 2011) will be the soloist in Carl Maria von Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet and Orchestra. Other repertoire on the concert will include the hauntingly beautiful Pavane by Gabriel Fauré and two pieces with a Nordic flavor: Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Max Bruch’s Swedish Dances. Assistant Professor of Music Nicholas L. Wallin will conduct and admission is free.

The Lake Forest College Concert Choir will embark on their first concert tour under the direction of Professor Emilie Amrein. The group will travel to Wisconsin and Minnesota from February 23 through February 27. -
Instructor of Jazz Piano at Lake Forest College, Dr. Chris White, will be accompanying Chicago jazz vocalist, Sam Fazio, live on WGN Channel 9 on Friday, January 21, between 11 a.m. and noon. -
Recent Lake Forest graduate, Zachary Engel ‘10, is already starting to make a name for himself as a commercial composer. -
