Choral Rosters 2011-2012

How is voice placement determined?

After hearing every singer, I create rosters for each choir based on the following considerations:

• Balance (or, how many singers can I place in a section before that section out-balances another?)
• Tone color
• Sight-reading ability
• Experience

After you have been placed in a choir, I will spend time considering what part you should sing when sections are divided and where you should sit to best utilize your voice in a section. I will occasionally rehearses with one section in order to arrange the voices in a way to create an ideal blend.
