History Major
The major in history consists of nine course credits. Students enroll in 110 (World Civilizations to 1650), preferably as first-year students, and complete one of the following two-course sequences: 120 and 121 (United States); 200 and 201 (East Asia); 210 and 211 (Greece and Rome); 211 and 204 (Rome and Medieval); or 212 and 213 (Europe). Juniors take 300 (Theory and Methods). To complete the major, students enroll in four other courses, at least two of which must be at the 300 level or above, and take either 420 (Senior Seminar) or an independent study research project, such as a senior thesis.
History Minor
The history minor consists of six courses, two of which must be on or above the 300 level. History 300 is encouraged but not required for the minor.
