The following is the schedule for teacher candidate certification testing:

Fall of Sophomore year (before or during ED 210)
(needed before program entrance interview)
Content Area Test Spring of Junior year (for spring student teachers)
(possible fall of senior year for PGSTO fall student teachers)
Assessment of Professional Teaching Spring of Senior year (during student teaching for spring student teachers/ before for PGSTO)

Post Graduation Student Teaching Option (PGSTO)
The department offers all certification candidates the option of completing their student teaching requirement following graduation.  While student teaching, participants in the program are required to pay only a minimal fee to cover registration and supervisory costs.  To qualify for this program option, a candidate must complete, upon graduation, all requirements for both the content area major and the professional education sequence for the education major with the sole exception of student teaching.  The reduced fee option is applied to the three credits for student teaching only. The Postgraduate Student Teaching Option does not apply to students participating in the ACM Urban Education Program. Permission of the Education Department is required for participation
