KAPPA DELTA PI
Kappa Delta Pi is an honor society in education. It strives to promote a closer fellowship among students who are dedicated to the teaching profession. It promotes excellence in and the recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of education. KDP recognizes education majors who exhibit the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards, promise in teaching and who make contributions to education. Students who have been admitted to the Education Department and have successfully completed fieldwork, as well as two other courses in education with a B (3.0) or better, and who have attained a 3.2 GPA overall are invited to join Kappa Delta Pi.
Tau Psi Chapter at Lake Forest College is a very active KDP chapter that focuses on service projects to surrounding school districts and educational programs on campus, such as a series of outstanding speakers in the field of education. Membership in Tau Psi provides an excellent opportunity for education students to develop professional and social networks with the Lake Forest Community. NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (NEA) STUDENT PROGRAM
Lake Forest College's chapter of the Student Illinois Education Association/National Education Association (IEA/NEA) is open to all students on campus. The Student NEA is a grassroots organization serving education students nationwide. Its goals are to provide opportunities for professional development and leadership training, to advocate at all levels for student members and their concerns, to monitor national issues that impact future teachers, and to provide students with the opportunity to network with other future teachers. Senior Prize in Education is awarded to an outstanding student in education.
Senior Prize in Student Teaching is awarded to the student who has represented the values of Lake Forest College by demonstrating exceptional knowledge, skills and dispositions while teaching in local schools.
