Economics-Business Internships Course Requirements
For the FIRST 10 WEEKS submit a typed/printed journal weekly, two full double-spaced typed pages, via EMAIL. Due 5 p.m. on Mondays, reflecting on the work of the preceding week. Late journals are accepted, ONLY until the following Friday at noon and receive fewer points.
Journal topics might include:
What new skills you are learning.
Connections between work experience and theoretical learning in classes.
Opportunities for innovation and creativity in your working environment.
Perceptions and insights about the corporate/business environment.
What you are learning overall about living and working in the business world.
Monthly Seminar meetings to discuss specific aspects of the internship experience. Dates: Tuesday evenings, 7:00-8:00 p.m. Turn in Weekly Time Sheets (initialed by supervisors) at Seminars.
Work 300 hours/semester for a 2-credit internship. Internship Supervisors must initial your Weekly Time Sheet. Time Sheets are due at each Seminar Meeting. No intern may work for a company owned by a family member, or be supervised by a family member or anyone working under a family member.
Write a ten-page paper or project which must include a research component (at least 10 articles/books) and relate the responsibilities of the internship to course work.
Submit a two-page evaluation of your internship, along with your final paper. This evaluation should be written to help future students assess the value of this internship for their interests.
Internships are graded on a credit-D-fail basis. In order to receive a credit grade, you must:
