Requirements for the Business Major and Minor

Business Major
The business major is designed to provide the student with an overview of the economic environment of business and of the various areas  of the business world: accounting, marketing, and finance. The primary intention is to teach students how to think about questions in the business world rather than to provide narrow vocational training.

Mathematics 110 (Calculus I), Mathematics 160 (Finite Mathematics with Applications), or Mathematics 161 (Mathematical Modeling in the Natural & Social Sciences) with a grade of C- or better, completed by the end of the first year.  Students without strong high school preparation in mathematics may need to complete Mathematics 105 as a prerequisite.  Note that any of these Mathematics courses will also satisfy one of the breadth requirements for the GEC.

Business 180 (Quantitative Methods for Economics and Business) with a grade of C- or better. Students who have taken this course will not receive credit for any other basic statistics course, including Mathematics 150.
