Mission
The mission of Sigma Xi is to honor scientific accomplishments, to encourage and to enhance the worldwide appreciation and support of original investigation in science and technology, and to foster worldwide a creative and dynamic interaction among science, technology, and society.

Motto
"Companions in Zealous Research."

Sigma Xi Pledge
"I hereby pledge myself, in accordance with the purposes and objectives of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, to foster companionship and cooperation among scientists, to maintain honor, integrity and honesty in all scientific activities, and to assume the other continuing responsibilities of membership."

Lake Forest College Chapter
Each year, Sigma Xi accepts nominations and inducts new members to the organization. Throughout the school year, Sigma Xi sponsors lectures and discussions about scientific research within the community. Sigma Xi holds two banquets, one in the fall and spring, which bring the members together for a lecture and social event. This past year, a new tradition was begun, that of the "Friday Coolers." Each Friday, it is the hopes of Sigma Xi that one member of the organization will present his/her research in an informal but informational setting.
