Off-Campus Study > Program in Greece > Application Procedures

Students are accepted into the Greece Program by a commitee of faculty, with the concurrence of the Director of International Studies.  Major considerations in selecting participants are:

  1. Sophomore or higher class standing at the time of participation (Lake Forest seniors must petition the Academic Appeals Board for permission to be off-campus in their last term).
  2. Evidence of academic motivation and promise of adequate academic performance (usually an average of 2.5 or better will be expected).
  3. Assurance that the applicant has the maturity to live abroad under the conditions of the program and will contribute to the quality of the group's experience.

If applicants number more than those who can be admitted, preference will be given to upperclass students.

The application includes a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (preferably from the student's major department), and a letter of reference from the Dean of Students.

Students applying from other institutions also must submit an official transcript from their home institution, and a College transfer application fee of $20.

Students are encouraged to submit applications by April 30 of the preceding academic year, and all applications must be submitted in full by October 31.  Completed applications will be evaluated beginning on May 1 and periodically thereafter as they are received.  Later applications will thus be competing for fewer spaces.
