Connecting to Student Network Storage
Install the VPN client on your computer and establish the VPN connection. You may upload and download documents to network storage in your own personal folder.
Windows computers—to make a shortcut to a network place:
- Open My Network Places
- Under Network Tasks, click Add a network place.
- Follow the instructions in the Add Network Place Wizard.
- When the Wizard asks, “Where do you want to create this network place?,” select Choose another network location.
- For the Internet or network address, type in \\LFCFS\Students\yourusername. Or click browse and open Entire Network, Microsoft Windows Network, Lakeforest, Students, and then your own folder.
Mac OS X computers--connect to server:
- Go to the Dock and click on Finder.
- In Finder, choose Connect to Server... From the Go menu. For Server Address, type the following: smb://LFCFS.lakeforest.edu.
- At the next window (SMB/CIFS File System Authentication), enter LAKEFOREST for the Workgroup or Domain, and then your user name and password.
- For the SMB/CIFS shared volume to connect to, select Students.
- Open the folder with your name on it. This is your storage area.
