Outstanding faculty are at the very core of the experience at Lake Forest College. Students learn from and work closely with distinguished scholars, who are accomplished in their fields and who earned PhDs at some of the nation's most prestigious institutions. They also present at conferences, publish papers and books, and serve as experts for the media.
Many faculty are recognized with notable research grants and fellowships, and yet, in small classroom settings with a 13 to 1 student-faculty ratio, their primary focus is on teaching and the education of undergraduate students. The intentionally small classes provide much more personalized instruction.
Faculty here are more than professors — they are mentors, research partners, and friends. They are uncommonly accessible and offer research opportunities to motivated students that are rarely found at other undergraduate institutions.
