David W. Park > Biographical Sketch
Dave Park grew up in the bucolic splendor of Geneva, Illinois. After early flirtations with bassoon performance and electrical engineering, he majored in communication studies at Northwestern University. He went on to earn his master's degree and Ph.D. in communication at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. His intellectual pursuits involve: intellectuals' relationships with the media, the history of mass communication research, the emergent practices of webcasting, independent media, journalism, and blogging. His work has been published in journals such as: The Communication Review, Cultural Studies, New Media & Society, The Journal of the History of the Behavioral Sciences, and the International Journal of Media and Cultural Politics. He is the editor (with Jeff Pooley) of the forthcoming book The History of Mass Communication Research: Contested Memories (Peter Lang Press). He began his career at Lake Forest College in the fall of 2003.
