Shubhik K. DebBurman > Biographical Sketch
Shubhik DebBurman, a native of New Delhi India, received a bachelors degree in biology and economics at Wittenberg University. Following a PhD in neuroscience from Northwestern University, with specializations in biological chemistry and molecular pharmacology, he became a Charles Webster postdoctoral fellow in molecular genetics and cell biology at the University of Chicago. In 1997, he was selected as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow of the Life Sciences Research Foundation, for his work on neurodegenerative diseases at the University of Chicago.
After visiting Kalamazoo College between 1998-2001 as an assistant professor, he joined Lake Forest College in 2001, where he is an associate professor of biology. Grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and private foundations have funded his research on Parkinson disease since 1999. He has published in major journals including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular Pharmacology, Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, and Life Science Education-CBE.
