Robert Archambeau > Biographical Sketch
Robert Archambeau is a poet and critic. He grew up in Canada, where he received his B.A. at the University of Manitoba. He earned his M.A., M.F.A., and Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame, and joined the faculty at Lake Forest in 1996. He has been a visiting professor of American literature at Lund University in Sweden, co-director of the &NOW Festival of Innovative Art and Writing, and the editor of the international poetry review Samizdat. In addition to poetry and works of literary criticism, his numerous publications include translations of Swedish and French literature. His own writing has been translated into Dutch and Italian, and been set to music by several composers, including Lake Forest’s composer-in-residence Rami Levin. His books include Word Play Place (1998), Vectors: New Poetics (2001), Home and Variations (2004) and Laureates and Heretics (2007). His writing has received awards from the Illinois Arts Council and the Academy of America Poets.
