Celebrating 150 Years | Alumni Memories
Peter Langer '68
I have fond memories of Dr. Harold Jensen, head of the physics department, and Dr. Tung Hon Jeong, professor of physics, emeritus. Both have provided guidance for me as an undergraduate student at Lake Forest College majoring in physics. I recall not having the best of grades but that didn't deter my favorite teachers from trying to inspire me. They did that through individual attention and support as well as the dedication they showed to teaching physics. I recall Dr. Jensen always having physics demonstrations set up in the halls to interest students in physics. Dr. Jeong has always been there for me by providing answers to questions about optics and electromagnetic theory. Now, many years later, we still e-mail from time to time.
After graduating from Lake Forest College in 1968 and with the principals of physics to guide me, I went on to become an electronics engineer. I worked at IBM, Ford Motor Company, and others, developing new automotive electronic products and service tools. I obtained 17 U.S. patents thanks, in part, to the encouragement I received from my former teachers at Lake Forest College.
