All Aboard: Railways and the Growth of a Community
The exhibit celebrated the railroad and its importance to the City of Lake Forest and the Village of Lake Bluff. The exhibit covered the history of both the railroad and the interurban as they came through the community and how the built environment changed in reponse to the railroads. Stories of how local residents were connected to the railroads as owners, engineers, conductors, employees, and architects were also featured.
In connection with the College's Sesquicentennial the exhibit addressed the importance of the railroad in the founding of Lind University (original name of the institution). Research for the exhibit took advantage of the extensive railroad collection at the Donnelley and Lee Library.
