Lake Forest Launching New Web Site

Lake Forest, Ill.- Lake Forest College will unveil a redesigned Web site in early May. The College’s site has been undergoing an “extreme makeover” during the past year and the results should prove to be of benefit to all visitors to the site.

The Web site has been redesigned, reorganized, and revitalized in an effort to better communicate the College’s culture and mission. Prospective students, alumni, parents, and friends, as well as current students and faculty, will be presented with significantly more content and will be able to navigate through the site to access information and resources with greater ease.

In addition to a state-of-the-art Content Management System (CMS) the new site features customized software for recruitment that will allow the College to engage prospective students in a more meaningful way. “By providing prospective students with an opportunity to personalize the site and share their interests with us, we can communicate and present information to them that is tailored to their preferences,” says vice president for Admissions and Career Services William Motzer. Prospective students can log in and access a secure site that offers them a variety of Web services including, a personalized “To-Do” list, to aid them through the admissions process; an online application and the ability to later check the status of their application online; a campus visit scheduler; and they can view information specific to their interests. “At Lake Forest we take pride in our personal approach to education, beginning with our initial contacts with prospective students. Having the ability to provide visitors to our site with a more personalized experience just makes sense for us,” says Motzer. The software also allows for integration with the College’s information system.

Lake Forest has developed the site in conjunction with LiquidMatrix, a Web development firm that deals exclusively with the higher education market. The College’s Web Advisory Group has been a key part of the process by reviewing, making recommendations, and approving navigation and design elements.

Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
