Making Connections at Victory Gardens Theater
Student playwrights gain real-world experience

Lake Forest, Ill.-- Chicago’s Victory Gardens Theater and Lake Forest College recently teamed to present "Making Connections,” a Free Readers Theater presentation of student-written and student-directed plays. The performances were held on Sunday, April 4 at the Tony Award-Winning Victory Gardens Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Avenue in Chicago.

"Making Connections" is an annual artistic partnership between Lake Forest College and Victory Gardens, generously underwritten by a grant from the James S. Kemper Foundation. Designed to enhance Lake Forest College's Curriculum with real-world experience, “Making Connections” offers students the chance to participate in advanced workshops led by Victory Gardens artistic staff, apply their skills in the Chicago theater community, and showcase their work for working theater professionals. Among the Chicago theater professionals on hand to offer the students feedback and encouragement were Victory Gardens Artistic Director Dennis Zacek, Victory Gardens Associate Artistic Director Sandy Shinner, director Kate Buckley, and the Goodman Theatre’s Tom Creamer.

The Garrick Players of Lake Forest College presented new plays and performance pieces created by student playwrights and creative artists.
