Lake Forest, Ill.—Lake Forest College hosts Professor Marc Blecher of Oberlin College, who will give a free public lecture titled, “China: Muddling Through Turmoil,” on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. in Meyer Auditorium, located in Hotchkiss Hall on the College’s Middle Campus. Blecher, an authority on Chinese politics, has published four books and dozens of articles on local politics, popular participation, and political economy. His recent works include: China Against the Tides, and Tethered Deer: Government and Economy in a Chinese Country. Blecher received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. His current research focuses on workers' politics in contemporary China. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
