The panelists include Judge Jane D. Waller, 19th Illinois Judicial Circuit; State Senator Susan Garrett, 29th District; Lieutenant Commander Sharee E. Fish, U.S. Navy Commanding Officer Transient Personnel Unit, Great Lakes; Mary Pat Clemmons, Director of ChildServ

Judge Jane D. Waller was appointed to the 19th Illinois Judicial Circuit in 1981, she was the first woman judge in the history of Lake County. She has been honored for her advocacy on behalf of children of divorce and for creating Kids Corner at the Lake County Courthouse. A life-long resident of Waukegan, Judge Waller has served on the boards of several Lake County service agencies.

State Senator Susan Garrett brings an outstanding record of success as a community advocate, businesswoman, and leader to the 29th District in the Illinois State Senate. She continues to focus on the quality of life issues that have been her platform for years: better education, more accessible health care, and well-planned community development. Representative Garrett also strongly believes that our government should be open and accessible to Illinois residents.

Lieutenant Commander Sharee E. Fish is a native of Columbia Falls, Montana. She began her career as a Seaman Recruit in 1980 at Recruit Training Command (RTC), Orlando, FL and progressed through the enlisted ranks to Yeoman Chief Petty Officer. LCDR Fish took over as Commanding Officer, Transient Personnel Unit in August 2003. Her military awards include Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (5 Awards), Navy Achievement Medal (5 awards) and various service and unit awards.

Mary Pat Clemmons earned her MSW from Loyola University, Chicago, under a Children's Bureau Fellowship. She has served as a project consultant for DCFS, and was part of a national Leadership Institute for Child Welfare Administrators. Clemmons was project director for two federal grants for DCFS, which resulted in funds which were used to help define public issues and shape new policies and programs throughout Illinois and the U.S. She will discuss trends in developing and implementing social service policy - both in the public and private sectors.
