Lake Forest, Ill.—The Lake Forest College Department of Music will present a choral and orchestral concert on Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel. The Chapel is located on the College’s Middle Campus. The public is invited to attend the concert free of charge. A reception will follow the performance. The Lake Forest College Chorus and Forester Singers, under the direction of Kirk-Evan Billet will present "Women's Voices," a program of music by women, ranging from chant by the 12th-century nun and mystic Hildegard of Bingen to the lament of Anne Boleyn to a premiere by Lake Forest College's own Dr. Rami Levin. Also on the program will be folk songs of Canada and China in highly original arrangements by prominent female composers. The Lake Forest College Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Rami Levin, will perform a movement from Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor K.466. The soloist will be Henry Schenker '07, winner of the 2003 Lake Forest College concerto competition. The orchestra will also perform Peer Gynt Suite op. 46 by Edward Grieg. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
