Brown vs. Board of Education
50th Anniversary

Lake Forest, Ill. – In May 1954, the United States Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision that changed the social landscape of the country forever. In the case Brown vs. Board of Education, the Court issued its opinion that intentional racial segregation in public schools was a violation of the 14th Amendment. Lake Forest College students and faculty will commemorate the 50th anniversary of this Supreme Court decision with student presentations, a panel discussion and a film series during the week of Monday, April 12. Monday, April 12:
· "Integration: What Have Been the Effects for African-American Students"
A panel discussion in Meyer Auditorium at 7 p.m.

Thursday, April 15:
· "The Sounds of Integration: Brown vs. Board of Education"
Student readings of historical material on the struggle for integration in Meyer Auditorium at 7 p.m.
· Brown vs. Board of Education Film Series
Films will be shown on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Pierson Room A
