Lake Forest, Ill.— The Garrick Players of Lake Forest College present Playwrights-in-Progress XXIII, the annual student-run and produced festival featuring new plays and performance pieces created by student playwrights and creative artists. Performances will be held Thursday, March 25 through Saturday, March 27, beginning at 8 p.m. nightly, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. A discussion with the writers, directors, and performers will follow the Friday production. All performances will be held in the Allan Carr Theater, located in Hixon Hall on the College’s South Campus, near the corner of Maplewood and Sheridan Roads in Lake Forest. Playwrights-in-Progress XXII features four new pieces, all of which will have their Chicago debut at the Victory Gardens Theater on Sunday, April 4. The plays include “Cross Ties,” written by Alexandra Diaz ’04, directed by Kindree Knoepfle ’06, and designed by Vanessa Pherson ’06; “BRB” written by Becca Shrier ’05, directed by Professor Dennis Mae and designed by Kate Eckley ’07 and Becca Easley ’04; “The Charm” written by Dan Brown ’06, directed by Chapin Hemingway ’07 and designed by Scott Sparks ’06; and “40 Double D” written by Angie Thornton ’05, directed by Michael Wollar ’06 and designed by Dan Brown ’06. The public is encouraged to attend the performance and reservations are strongly recommended. General admission tickets are $7, tickets for senior citizens and students with ID are $3.
