Chicago Korean Music Ensemble


Lake Forest, Ill.—The Lake Forest College Asia Center hosts an evening of Korean music performed by the five-member Chicago Korean Music Ensemble on Wednesday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel on the College’s Middle Campus. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information please call 847-735-6010.

Traditional and newly composed Korean music will be performed on traditional Korean instruments. Boung Hye Kim, in addition to vocals, performs on the Gayageum (twelve-stringed zither); Hyun Chung Kim performs on Daegeum (large bamboo flute), Sogeum (small bamboo flute), and the Danso (notched vertical flute); Sunwoo Yang performs on the Geomungo (six-stringed zither); and Yuri Choi performs on Haegeum (two-stringed fiddle).

Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
