Discusses Japanese Political and Economic Issues Lake Forest, Ill.— The Consul General of Japan at Chicago, Mitsuo Sakaba, will speak at Lake Forest College about contemporary Japanese political and economic issues on Tuesday, February 17 at 4 p.m. in room 209 of Durand Hall, located on the College’s North Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information please contact 847-735-6010. Sakaba, a member of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) since 1973, has held his current post in the United States since August of 2002. His previous positions included stays in France, Belgium, India, and Egypt, and most recently as Assistant Vice Minister for Parliamentary Affairs at the MOFA headquarters in Tokyo. The lecture is sponsored by the College’s Asia Center, which is funded in part by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
