Lake Forest Lyrica Presents
Mathieu Dufour and Kuang-Hao Huang


    

Lake Forest, Ill.— Lake Forest Lyrica, the highly-acclaimed series of chamber and choral music at Lake Forest College, will present the second concert of the season, featuring Mathieu Dufour, flute, and Kuang-Hao Huang, piano, on Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m. in Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel near the intersection of College and Sheridan roads.

Flutist Mathieu Defour, principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, is a native of Paris, where he played principal flute with the Paris National Opera before coming to Chicago in 1999. A winner of many prestigious awards, he made his Carnegie Hall and Lucerne Festival debuts as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under conductors Daniel Barenboim and Christopher Eschenbach. Dufour is a member of the Chicago Chamber Musicians and serves on the faculty of Roosevelt University.

Pianist Kuang-Hao Huang has performed throughout Europe and the United States, and as a soloist with the New World Symphony Orchestra and Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra. In March 2000, he premiered two works as part of Carnegie Hall’s Millenium Book Project. Huang is an active collaborator, regularly performing with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Chamber Musicians. He has performed on Ravinia’s Rising Star Series, WFMT and the Symphony’s MusicNOW series.

The program will feature music by Reinecke, Hindemith, Prokofiev, and a world premire by Rami Levin.

The series continues on Sunday, February 29, the Chicago Chamber Musicians will perform music by Mozart, Schubert and Nielsen. The final concert, on Sunday, April 25, will be The

Comic Intermezzo, with soprano Kathleen Van De Graaff, and bass Peter Van De Graaff performing one-act operas by Haydn and Johann Adoph Hasse.
