Lake Forest College Jazz Ensemble and Community Band to Perform

Lake Forest, Ill.— Lake Forest College Department of Music will present a joint concert of the Jazz Ensemble and the College and Community Band on Wednesday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel on the College’s Middle Campus. The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the performance.

The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mitch Palaga, will perform music of Horace Silver, Charlie Mingus, Stanley Turrentine and Duke Ellington. The concert will feature vocalist Anjali Pai, ’04. The College and Community Band will perform two overtures, one of which is a dedication the historic ship, “USS Constitution.” Also, included will be music by Percy Grainger and John Philip Sousa.

Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,330 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
