Second Annual Charity Ball to Benefit Walter Payton Cancer Fund

Lake Forest, Ill.—The Lake Forest College student organization, Women for Social Change invites the public to the semi-formal “Lucky Ball 2,” the second-annual charity event benefiting the Walter Payton Cancer Fund (WPCF). "Lucky Ball 2" will be held on Saturday, November 8 from 8 p.m.–midnight at the Gorton Community Center, located at 400 East Illinois Road, Lake Forest. The James Blackstone Band will play from 8-9 p.m. and KISS FM 103.5 will provide music for the remainder of the evening.

President of Women for Social Change, a student-run community service organization at Lake Forest College, Stephanie Caparelli said, “We chose to support the Walter Payton Cancer Fund because of the volume and directness with which donated funds reach cancer patients, 99 percent of all proceeds go directly to the cause.” The Walter Payton Cancer Fund is a special fund of the Cancer Research Foundation and is located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Women for Social Change currently has approximately twenty members and volunteers for a variety of organizations, including the HIV/AIDS coalition.

Tickets for the event are $20 per person, or $10 with a Lake Forest College ID and can be purchased either by calling Caparelli at 847-735-5753 or by emailing her at caparsm@lakeforest.edu. Raffle tickets are also available by contacting Caparelli for a variety of items, ranging from signed Chicago Bears mini helmets to artwork and gift certificates from local businesses. All proceeds benefit the WPCF.
