Lake Forest, Ill.—The annual Joseph Yeh Memorial Lecture at Lake Forest College will be held on Thursday, November 6 at 4 p.m. and is titled “The Moral and Philosophical Implications of Chinese Calligraphy.” The presentation will take place in Meyer Auditorium, in Hotchkiss Hall, on the College’s Middle Campus. Professor Peimin Ni, Department of Philosophy, Grand Valley State University will deliver the lecture. The presentation is free and open to the public. For more information please call 847-735-6010. Ni received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fudan University and he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in Philosophy. Ni is a founder and former president of the Association of Chinese Philosophers in America (ACPA). His published books include: On Confucius (2002), and On Reid (2002). He is also an accomplished calligraphy artist. The Joseph Yeh Memorial Lecture Series is held in honor of the late Joseph Yeh, a Lake Forest College professor. Yeh was a philsopher, teacher, and friend whose life was cut short in the summer of 2001 at the young age of 30. He is remembered as a vibrant, intriguing, and insightful teacher. The lecture series is intended to continue his goal of challenging beliefs and the unquestioned assumptions that underlie them. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,330 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
