A Presentation by Author Thomas Frank Lake Forest, Ill.- Lake Forest College welcomes author Thomas Frank to campus on Monday, October 27. Frank will deliver a public lecture titled “One Market Under God” at 4 p.m. in McCormick Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information please call 847-735-6010. Frank will speak on extreme capitalism and the market, via an amusing slide show. Graduating from the University of Virginia in 1987, Frank founded the magazine The Baffler in 1988. He went on to earn his PhD from the University of Chicago and is the author of The Conquest of Cool: Business Culture, Counterculture, and the Rise of Hip Consumerism (1997) and One Market Under God: Extreme Capitalism, Market Populism, and the End Of Economic Democracy (2000). He most recently co-edited Boob Jubilee: The Mad Cultural Politics of the New Economy (2003), a collection of salvos from the Baffler. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,300 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
