Lake
Forest, Ill. -- Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, the world’s renowned authority
on chimpanzees, will deliver the Lake Forest College Oppenheimer Lecture
on Wednesday, October
8 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. The event is free and open to the public. For more information please contact 847-735-5021. The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest is located at the corner of Deerpath and Sheridan roads. Dr. Goodall is the Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and is a UN Messenger of Peace. She began her landmark study of chimpanzees in Tanzania in June 1960, under the mentorship of anthropologist and paleontologist Dr. Louis Leakey. Her work at the Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve became the foundation of future primatological research and redefined the relationship between humans and animals. The Lake Forest College Oppenheimer Lectures are supported by the Florine G. and Edward H. Oppenheimer Fund, which was established in 1982. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,330 students representing 46 states and 50 other countries.
