- Lake Forest College will present a voice and piano recital by the
Romanian soprano Aruna Serbanescu and pianist Shirley
Trissell on Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lily Reid
Holt Memorial Chapel on the College’s Middle Campus, near the intersection
of College and Sheridan roads.
The program will include works by Mahler, Massenet and Verdi. Admission

Serbanescu studied choral conducting and bell-canto at the University
of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana under Nicholas Di Virgilio and
then studied in Bucharest and New York. She performs often with
the Lincoln Opera in Chicago and has appeared with Chicago Virtuosi,
Saint Vincent Symphony Orchestra, South Side Chamber Orchestra,
and Chicago Businessman Orchestra. In 2001 and 2002 she was a guest
artist in the Broadsides Series of the Chicago Access Network TV.
Trissell earned a bachelor’s degree of music in piano, a Chamber
Music diploma from the Musikhochschule in Vienna, Austria, and
a master’s degree in piano from DePaul University. Her teachers
have included, Digby Bell, Tong Il Han, George Ebert, and Dmitry
Paperno. Currently, Trissell freelances in the Chicago area.
