Garrick Players to Perform Hedda Gabler

Lake Forest, Ill—The Garrick Players of Lake Forest College will perform a transformed version of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler from Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 28 at 8 p.m. nightly with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Performances will take place in the Allan Carr Theater in Hixon Hall on the College’s South Campus, located near the intersection of Rosemary and Sheridan roads.

The play depicts the struggles of a lower class woman, Hedda Gabler, as she tries to cope with the class differences that exist between herself and her husband. Director Dennis Maehas transformed “Ibsen’s proto-feminist play into a shocking, absorbing, introspection of the ideas that have impacted generations of women on at least two continents.”

Tickets for the performances are $7 for general admission, $3 for seniors, and free for Lake Forest College students, faculty. There will be a discussion with the actors following the Friday night performance. For reservations please call 847-735-5216.
