Book Talk at Lake Forest College Lake Forest, Ill.-Professor Ghada Talhami, chair of the Department of Politics at Lake Forest College, will discuss her fifth and newly published book, Palestinian Refugees: Pawns to Political Actors, on Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln Room of the Donnelley Library on the College’s Middle Campus, near the intersection of College and Sheridan roads. Talhami describes the situation for many of the Palestinians as such, “From the days of their expulsion or flight from Palestine in 1948 to the present, Palestinian refugees have been a homeless and stateless population, which had a significant impact on the economy, civil peace, and foreign policies of their Arab host countries.” Talhami currently holds the D.K. Pearsons Professor of Politics title, and the editorship of the Arab Studies Quarterly journal. She has published novels about Palestinian and Egyptian history and identity. Talhami specializes in comparative politics, politics of the Middle East, African politics, the Third World, and women in the Third World. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
