Lake Forest, Ill.-Dr. Francis Aparicio will present a lecture titled, “Jennifer as Selena: Rethinking Latinidad in Media and Popular Culture” at Lake Forest College on Thursday, April 17 at 5 p.m. in the Durand Auditorium (room 209) on the College’s North Campus near the intersection of Deerpath and Sheridan roads. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information please call 847-735-6010. Aparicio, professor and director of the Latin American and Latino Studies Program at the University of Illinois–Chicago, earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Indiana in Spanish and Comparative Literature, and her masters and doctorate degrees in Spanish from Harvard University. She has published several books and articles about Latino culture. The event is made possible through the generosity of the Latin American Studies Program and the International Relations Office. Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
