Garrick Players Present Playwrights-in-Progress XXII


Lake Forest, Ill – The Garrick Players of Lake Forest College present Playwrights-in-Progress XXII, the annual student-run and produced festival featuring new plays and performance pieces created by student playwrights and creative artists.

Performances will be held Thursday, March 27–Saturday, March 29, beginning at 8 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. A discussion with the writers, directors, and performers will follow the Friday production. All performances will be held in the Allan Carr Theater, located in Hixon Hall on the College’s South Campus, near the corner of Maplewood and Sheridan Roads in Lake Forest.

Playwrights-in-Progress XXII features seven new pieces, all of which will have their Chicago debut at the Victory Garden Theater on Sunday, April 6. This year's playwrights are: Jonathan Yip 03, Mike Wakcher 06, Lydia Uhlir 06, Cahd Marqui 04, Amber Marie Birch 03, Ken Dallmeyer 04, and Jermeitrik Christian 03. Respectively, the titles of the plays are: Appalled; The Unfathomable; Gummy Worms; These Four Walls; The Misadventures of John; Fall; and We the People.

The public is encouraged to attend and reservations are strongly recommended. General admission tickets are $7, tickets for senior citizens and students with ID are $3. The performances are free to Lake Forest College students, faculty and staff. For more information or to make reservations, please call 847-735-5216.
