John W. Rogers, Jr. to Deliver the Annual A.B. Dick Lecture on Entrepreneurship


Lake Forest, Ill.-— John W. Rogers, Jr., founder, chairman, and CEO of Ariel Capital Management, will deliver the annual Albert Blake Dick Lecture on Entrepreneurship at Lake Forest College on Thursday, March 27 at 8 p.m. Rogers address is titled, “Building a Mutual Fund Brand.”

Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend. An early arrival is recommended because seating is open on an availability basis. Rogers will speak in the College’s Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel at the intersection of College and Sheridan roads in Lake Forest. For further information, please call 847-735-6010.

Upon graduating from Princeton University, Rogers founded Ariel Capital Management, Inc. in 1983, an institutional money management firm with over $10 billion in assets under management. His investment expertise has brought him to the forefront of media attention with guest appearances on television shows ranging from “Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser” to the “Oprah Winfrey Show” He has been interviewed frequently for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, and Barron’s. In 1994, he was named by Time as one of the its “50 for the Future,” a roster of the country’s most promising leaders under 40. Rogers is a regular outside columnist for Forbe’s magazine.

The annual Albert Blake Dick Lecture is provided through the generosity of the A.B. Dick Endowment. The Endowment is designed to encourage and stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit within the campus community. This spirit marked the life of Dick, who served as a member of the College’s Board of Trustees for 17 years. Michael H. Ebner, a member of the College’s faculty since 1974, is the A.B. Dick Professor of History.

The A. B. Dick Lecture was inaugurated at Lake Forest College in 1985 by Ted Turner, chairman and president of Turner Broadcasting. Other speakers in the series have included: Jeff Bezos, Gary Comer, Brian Lamb, Stanley Marcus, Gordon Segal, and Dempsey Travis.

Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
