Lake Forest, Ill—The Lake Forest College Chamber Orchestra and the Lake Forest College Chorus and A Cappella Choir will present a Winter Concert at Lake Forest College on Friday, February 21, 2003 at 7:30 PM. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will take place at Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel, on the College’s Middle Campus, located at the intersection of College and Sheridan Roads in Lake Forest. A reception with the musicians will follow the performance. For more information please call 847-735-6010. The Lake Forest College Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Jamie Schmidt, will perform Ancient Airs & Dances, Suite I by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi. The suite is a set of four dances based on French and Italian lute music from the 17th and 18th centuries. The concert will open with two fanfares for brass and organ by Andre Campra and David N. Johnson. The Chorus and A Cappella Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Kirk-Evan Billet, will be performing Russian selections, including folk songs and modern and ancient liturgical pieces. In addition, the singers will present several South African freedom songs. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
