Lake Forest, Ill—Lake Forest Lyrica, the highly acclaimed concert series at Lake Forest College, will present the third concert of its ninth season on Sunday, February 23 at 3 p.m., featuring the Chicago String Quartet with clarinetist Larry Combs. The concert will take place in Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel, on the campus of Lake Forest College, located at the intersection of College and Sheridan Roads in Lake Forest. A reception with the musicians will follow the performance. Tickets are available to the public for $15 at the door. For students with ID tickets are $5. For more information please call 847-735-5169. The program includes string quartets by Beethoven and Schubert, and the Brahms Clarinet Quintet. The Chicago String Quartet, what The New Yorker magazine calls "one of the most forceful and intelligent of American quartets," includes current and former members of prestigious ensembles such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles and Israel Philharmonics, Chicago Lyric Opera and Paris National Opera Orchestras, Music of the Baroque, Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Muir Quartet, and Los Angeles Piano Quartet. Larry Combs is principal clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded as a soloist and chamber musician on the Erato, Sony, Cedille, Crystal, and Summit labels. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
