Concert Pianist Lukas Vondracek to Perform at Lake Forest College


Lake Forest, Ill.-— Fresh from his Carnegie Hall debut, concert pianist Lukas Vondracek, a sixteen year old prodigy from the Czech Republic, will perform at Lake Forest College on Sunday, February 23 at 7 p.m. The recital, his fourth at the College, will be held in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel located on the College’s Middle Campus near the intersection of College and Sheridan roads. The concert is open to the public and free of charge. For more information please call 847-735-6010.

Vondracek’s program will include pieces by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Smetana.

Lukas Vondracek began studying piano at the age of two, and made his first public performance at the age of four. By the age of nine, after performing solo recitals for several years, he began playing concertos and has since appeared with some of the finer symphony orchestras in Europe. Vondracek has won over critics and audiences throughout the world with his self-assurance and sophisticated repertoire. He will be touring the United States this year as a soloist with the Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Ashkenazy. His final performance on this tour will be in Chicago on March 7 at Symphony Center.

Lake Forest College is a private, liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The college has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
