Author Discusses New Book Lake Forest, Ill. –Professor Donald Meyer, musicologist, electronic composer, award winning teacher, and author, will discuss his new book Perspectives on Music on Wednesday, January 29 at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln Room of the Donnelley Library, located on the Middle Campus of Lake Forest College. The talk is open to the public and is free of charge. For more information please call 847-735-6010. Perspectives on Music is a guide to music appreciation and is designed to draw those with no musical background into the rich and varied world of musical styles–American and European, popular and classical– that they are likely to encounter both in and out of the concert halls. Readers learn how to listen to music–any kind of music-–more actively, and to articulate their observations clearly and persuasively. Donald Meyer is an associate professor of music at Lake Forest College. He received his Ph.D. in musicology from the University of California at Davis in 1994. He is the author of articles on American cultural history and rock music and is composer-in-residence for the Taz-Wood Dance Company in Peoria. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
