Public Lecture by Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow at Lake Forest College Lake Forest, Ill–Dr. Ramon Daubon, senior associate at the Kettering Foundation, will be a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow at Lake Forest College the week of October 27. Dr. Daubon will give a public lecture titled "Development and Democracy: Building a Culture of Democratic Citizenship" on Wednesday, October 30 at 4 p.m. in Meyer Auditorium, located in Hotchkiss Hall on the College’s Middle Campus. Daubon is an economist interested in economic and social development, and in building civil society, with an emphasis on Latin America (particularly the Caribbean) and the United States. Born in Puerto Rico, Daubon earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Humanities from the University of Puerto Rico and a doctorate degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. Daubon has worked as an official for the US Agency for International Development, he has served as head of the Ford Foundation’s office in Santiago, Chile, and as Vice President of the National Puerto Rican Coalition. Daubon is currently a senior associate at the Kettering Foundation. Annually, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation chooses distinguished practitioners to spend a week on select college campuses around the country. During that week, Fellows give presentations, attend classes, and interact with students and faculty in informal discussions. The participating Fellows, including government officials, business leaders, journalists, environmentalists, and medical ethicists, are matched with small colleges chosen for their commitment to the goals of the program. Together, they help to equip students for the social, political and economic settings they will enter as professionals and informed citizens. Lake Forest College is a private liberal arts institution located 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. The College has 1,300 students representing 45 states and 43 other countries.
